Remember laughing in the rain & running through the surf
Dancing in the dark of night our hearts afire with hope
We both had demons at our heels and angels by our sides
Our destinies seemed forever intertwined
And friendship shone like diamonds
In hindsight we were blind

But darkness slept within you, a self destructive side
A stubborn unrelenting drive to careless override
It weaved it's way between us and won out in the end
I judged you maybe harshly and regret the things I said
And still they ring harsh but true, resounding in my head

I heard the news today
You passed away yesterday at home and all alone
I'll never see your face again
My heart feels cold as stone
Whatever chance we might have had to heal this rift has gone
And you will never know how much you meant to me
How much it pains me that you've gone…
how much that I still love you

So rest my friend within the light and find the peace you couldn't find in life
And know that though the years passed with us apart
You were and always will be the closest friend within my heart.
I miss you…I always did and always will.
